Job Duties

As a Structural Engineer, you will be using your skills and expertise to design, evaluate, and certify our cutting edge products and services. These cover a very wide range from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems to highly integrated ground vehicles and test platforms. You'll examine complex metallic (steel and aluminum) structures, including both welded and bolted connections, and sometimes composite and AM (Additive Manufacturing) structures and systems.

Your technical duties involve the structural analysis and development of new products and processes throughout the product lifecycle from leading the analysis of structural components, reviewing the design, collaborating with cross-functional teams, integrating structural designs into overall systems, to overseeing the development and execution of structural tests.

Job Qualifications

  • Advanced understanding of structural analysis and design principles and practices.
  • Experience with static and dynamic analyses using industry standard hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools such as FEMAP, MSC Patran and Nastran.
  • Experience analyzing steel and aluminum structure, bolted joints, and welds.
  • Experience analyzing components exposed to vehicle shock and vibration.
  • Ability to author substantiation reports.
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
  • Exposure to requirements and loads development.

Skills Preferred:

  • Background in the Defense, Automotive, Maritime, or Heavy Equipment Industry.
  • Familiarity with AWS, AISC, ASTM, ABS, and DoD design guidelines and regulations.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard mechanical design principles, to include, but not limited to parametric design, model-based definition, material hardware selection, manufacturing and production processes.
  • Experience analyzing structure in harsh dynamic and thermal environments.
  • Experience analyzing components exposed to rocket plume loads.
  • Experience in Engineering Simulation using Finite Element analysis (FEA) tool FEMAP.
  • Experience with vehicle dynamics (handling, suspension, structural loads).

Education Must Haves:

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering or other related discipline and typically 6 or more years of relevant experience, Understanding of engineering principles and practices
