Position Summary: The Aircraft Assembly Installer is responsible for assembling, installing, and sealing components necessary for the manufacture of aircraft and sub-aircraft structures, as well as missile components. This role includes layout fabrication and installation of production and non-production parts, electrical wire harness fabrication, and operating automated riveting and assembly equipment.
Primary Responsibilities:
Determine methods and sequences for fabrication, assembly, installation, repair, rework, and modifications of aircraft assemblies.
Perform functional and operational checks on plumbing, hydraulics, and various assemblies.
Operate automated riveting machines, hand-held electro-magnetic equipment, and other assembly tools.
Fabricate electrical wire harnesses following schematic diagrams and wire boards.
Install sheet metal and synthetic components using jigs, fixtures, or reference points from hand layouts.
Conduct assembly-related tasks including drilling, reaming, countersinking, riveting, sealing, and rework.
Clean and prepare surfaces for sealing by removing contaminants with solvents or scrubbing.
Apply protective coatings and sealants via spraying or brushing.
Perform fueling and related test operations.
Repair and rework assemblies and detailed parts not meeting specifications.
Make minor adjustments to equipment (e.g., rivet sets, punches, shims, dies).
Execute machining operations in accordance with applicable specifications.
Conduct secondary tasks such as applying alodine and paint touch-ups as necessary.
Secure tools and equipment required to complete tasks.
Skills and Qualifications:
Minimum one (1) year of varied aircraft assembly experience, or successful completion of a comprehensive training program providing relevant entry-level skills.
Proficiency with computer systems for labor tracking, accessing work instructions, and recording task completions.
Ability to work meticulously to satisfy precise tolerances and specifications.
