Considering a Move to Dallas for a Contract Aviation Job?

New to Dallas?

Ever consider a contract job in Dallas, TX? The Dallas/Fort Worth area in Texas is the largest metropolitan area in the state (by population), and with its massive variety of sporting venues, nightclubs, and nature preserves, it's quickly made a name for itself as one of the best places to live in the entire United States.

Weather in Dallas

The Dallas/Fort Worth area is nothing if not gorgeous. In the winters, you can enjoy an average daily temperature of 60℉, and while the summers can be hot (even up to the high nineties), the low humidity makes them feel reasonable. Cool cross breezes can be felt year round, and unlike a city such as Chicago, the more inland nature of the city keeps you out of reach of the majority of small coastal storms.

Cost of Living in Dallas

Dallas trots along the US average for almost every cost of living metric. Housing is a touch over the national average, but deals can be found for as low as $650 for a studio apartment. The other living costs (such as utilities, average food prices, and local insurance/tax burdens) are all right around the national average, and apart from a rare cold winter night, you never need to worry about an exorbitant heating bill.

Dining in Dallas

The Dallas/Fort Worth area is chock full of every kind of restaurant imaginable. From sports bars to tex-mex, there's something for everyone. Eagles Nest Sports Grill and the Tumbleweeds Sports Bar are both great choices if you're looking to grab a burger and watch your favorite team - if you're looking for a more Irish style grill, we recommend McFly's Pub. It would be irresponsible to talk about Dallas/Fort Worth food (or Texas food in general) without talking about Tex-Mex. After all, Dallas is home to some of the most authentic, delicious Mexican food in the country. Meso Maya Comida y Copas (Meso Maya) and Uncle Julio's (https://unclejulios.com/locations/fort-worth/) are some of the most iconic restaurants in the state, and offer great tasting food at a great price.

What to Do in Dallas

The Dallas/Fort Worth area is full of ways to pass time, ranging from fishing to hiking to spending some time on one of the many lakes around the city. In the northern left side of the city lies the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refugee, which is a great choice for hikers, bird watchers, or people just looking to get out and enjoy the fresh air. A little more towards the city you'll find the iconic Fort Worth Japanese Garden, which is widely touted as one of the most beautiful places in the entirety of Texas.

Looking to get out on the water? There are a number of good choices. With dozens of massive lakes inside the city limits, there's plenty of opportunities to spend a weekend out fishing or kayaking. Sam's Dock Boat Rentals has facilities on a number of the largest lakes, and Lakeside Boat Rental in Lewisville is right off the water (and right by the city), making it a great choice if you're looking to spend on afternoon on the water and an evening catching drinks at one of the many restaurants within walking distance.

Finally, it's worth noting that the Dallas/Fort Worth area is one of the most populous places in the United States - you'll be able to find virtually everything you could want in the city limits, such as premium movie theatres (like the Alamo Drafthouse), Six Flags, and the iconic Texas Motor Speedway.

Where to Stay

With hundreds of hotels in the city limits, it's hard to narrow things down. That said, there are great options in every corner of the city. Some of the top choices amongst our contractors are the Motel 6 and the In Town Suites. If you're travelling by RV, there are a number of great choices. The Dallas Hi Ho RV Park doesn't publish rates for anything longer than a week, but for extended stays, they're known to be very reasonable and accommodating. That said, there are a ton of RV choices around the city, so it's worth calling around to find the best rates/amenities for your stay.
