Job Duties
- Lead and oversee the avionics team to ensure timely completion of work in compliance with FAA regulations, manufacturer specifications, and company procedures
- Serve as the primary liaison between the avionics team and leadership, ensuring clear communication of priorities, timelines, and status updates
- Troubleshoot, repair, test, remove, and install avionics and instrument systems, resolving complex technical issues
- Perform Authorized Inspector responsibilities, including in-process and final inspections, and approve return-to-service work as required
- Ensure accurate and complete documentation of all maintenance activities in accordance with approved data
- Mentor and train technicians, providing on-the-job training and supporting ongoing skill development
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to manage workflow, prioritize tasks, and meet operational deadlines
- Maintain avionics test equipment and ensure adherence to workplace organization and safety standards
- Participate in required training and support team members in maintaining technical proficiency
- Provide daily supervision, guidance, and support to ensure high-quality workmanship and adherence to best practices
- Address team challenges, remove obstacles, and promote a productive work environment
- Monitor performance and provide coaching and feedback to support continuous improvement
- Ensure compliance with company policies and promote a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 3 years of avionics experience in a Part 145 environment; Part 135 experience preferred
- Prior leadership experience, including mentoring or supervising technicians
- Advanced hands-on avionics experience; experience with business aircraft preferred
- Strong knowledge of maintenance reference materials, including maintenance manuals, illustrated parts catalogs, and component manuals
- Familiarity with maintenance tracking systems (e.g., CMP, CAMP) preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to lead and support teams in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to obtain an FAA Repairman Certificate; A&P license preferred
- Strong organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs occasionally
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at elevated heights
- Capability to perform physically demanding tasks, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and noisy environments
- Sufficient vision to read small print and distinguish colors
Additional Requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Valid driver’s license with no major infractions
