Applies intermediate, and some advanced technical skills and knowledge in the preparation of application of finish, the application of finish, buffing of, and/or detailing of components related to complex aircraft interior cabinetry made from metallic and non-metallic materials.
Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
Performs tasks related to the aircraft cabinetry finish process and applies standard and some advanced solutions to work situations that are both repetitive and unique. May perform a variety of routine and unique duties related to any work operation related to the finish process of detail components and/or subassemblies of aircraft cabinetry and/or related products.
Performs tasks in two or more of the following areas:
Performs intermediate and some advanced tasks related to the preparation of wood, veneer, metallic, and non-metallic surfaces (both raw and finished)
Performs intermediate and some advanced tasks related to the staging of and preparation of finished veneers, hardwoods, finished surfaces, aluminum and other metallic and non-metallic surfaces just prior to the application of finish.
Performs intermediate and some advanced tasks related to the buffing and polishing of finished veneers, hardwoods, finished surfaces, aluminum and other metallic and non-metallic surfaces.
Performs intermediate and some advanced tasks related to the detailing of finished veneers, hardwoods, finished surfaces, aluminum and other metallic and non-metallic surfaces.
Work performed ranges from simple to moderately complex and is of both a repetitive and unique nature, which requires intermediate and some advanced skills and experience. Works under general supervision where management determines priorities.
Reads and follows work instructions, finish specifications, and finish processes necessary to prepare and complete the finish process. Completes and maintains necessary paperwork for documenting processes performed. Maintains traceability documentation and records materials used on the finishing of aircraft cabinetry.
Work may include but is not limited to, performing intermediate to complex filling operations related to the cosmetic appearance of the part being worked. Removing excess material from production parts and prepares the surface for finish. Performing intermediate to advanced masking operations using intermediate to masking techniques. Performing intermediate surface repairs on cabinetry. Performing tasks related to the buffing of intermediate to complex cabinetry components.
Understands and complies with all plant safety requirements for safe work practices as stated in applicable Material Safety Data Sheets and plant safety rules. Maintains the product and work area clean and free from debris.
4+ years related aircraft interior finishing
Special Skills, Licenses or Job Requirements:
Must be able to demonstrate competency in applying the following to perform normal job duties:
1. Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, process specifications, and customer finish specifications.
2. Must be familiar with and have operational knowledge of department tools.
3. Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
4. Must possess advanced skills in one of the following areas: Surface preparation (sanding, staining, masking), spraying and surface touch-up, buffing, detailing and be able to train others in that area.
5. Must possess basic and some intermediate skills in one of the following areas: Surface preparation (sanding, staining, masking), spraying and surface touch-up, buffing, detailing.
